Married. Two daughters. Was never a runner, but started in 2006 at age 39. Home is Idaho, but I travel a lot so I run in many different cities and states.

Took the loop along the river, up Broadway, across S. Camp Rd. and down Monument. My last run in Grand Junction. It's been a good town to run in. 41 runs, 391 miles. Ready to go home tomorrow.

Instead of running up Monument Road, I went over to Little Park Rd. It was a lot steeper, but the payoff was huge with some great views. When I was about 4 miles into it, I saw a trail heading off the road and I couldn't resist. It was a good climb along sand and rocks. I ended up at a hanging rock with a sign that said "Free Lunch" and a great view of the canyon. Not sure what the free lunch thing was about, but I turned around there and headed back down the hill to the hotel. One more day in this burgh before flying out for the last time.

I went down the river, over the bridge and along the highway. Weather was cool and cloudy, a bit of snow leftover from last night. Didn't run too hard, but held a good pace.

I went to a trailhead at the bottom of the Colorado National Monument and started running. Shortly my running turned into hiking. And then my hiking started to turn into mountaineering. When I found myself on a sheet of ice, sliding backwards, with a cliff to my right and a rock wall to my left, I decided that it was time to turn back.

Back at the trailhead I took another trail that went along the bottom of the monument. A good hard run after a recovery day. And and adventure.
