| | Boise, ID 10:20 am Pace: 7:45 I was going to get up and run at 7am, but it was 23 degrees and I just didn't feel like it. So, I slept in, fixed breakfast for the kids, ate a stack of blueberry pancakes with peanut butter and then went running. It turned out to be a good plan. I felt good and ran at a comfortable pace under 8mpm. |

| | Boise, ID 8:00 am Pace: 7.54 Cold this morning. 20 degrees. Hands were freezing. I went a little farther than usual because I already know that a Saturday run is out this week. Maybe I can make it up throughout the week.

| | Grand Junction, CO 6:30 am Pace: 8:11 7 degrees this morning. I would have loved to go longer but an hour was about my limit in the cold. I ran up toward the monument and back.

| | Grand Junction, CO 6:30 am Pace: 8:06 Same course as yesterday, but a balmy 12 degrees this time. I also didn't run under the 5th Street bridge because I saw hobos sleeping there yesterday and the folks at the paper said it probably isn't safe.

| | Grand Junction, CO 6:30 am Pace: 8:03 A sweltering 17 degrees this morning. Didn't even put on the hoodie. I'm getting more nervous about this town though. After Tuesday's warning about the hobos under the bridge, I heard a radio report last night about packs of wild dogs roaming around attacking people. I carried my pepper spray, as if it would do any good.

| | Grand Junction, CO 6:15 pm Pace: 7:52 I slept in this morning, so I ran after work. It was a good solid run. Nice because it wasn't as cold as the mornings have been this week.

| | Goshen, IN 6 am Pace: 8:09 Running in the dark in a new town. Not a great idea, but this time of year I really have no choice. I ran through the farm land. I bet it was pretty out there if it wasn't pitch black. Glad I had my headlamp because the shoulders were pretty narrow. As I was running down the back stretch I heard a clip-clop-clip-clop. I look behind me and an Amish horse and buggy was chasing me down. That horse was pretty fast. It passed me pretty quickly.

| | Goshen, IN 11:30 pm (yesterday) Pace: 8:21 The weather report called for rain in the morning and I figured I'd get the same amount of sleep if I ran at night as in the morning. The run was kind of slow because I'm not used to running at night, but it wasn't bad. I only got scared once when I was running on a path by the river and I heard a big splash. I don't know what it was, but it helped me pick up the pace for the next mile or so. |

| | Goshen, IN 6:20 am Pace: 8:19 Kind of rough this morning. It rained all day yesterday, but when I got up it had stopped and the temperature was 56 and windy. Hard to know how to dress. I was going to wear shorts, but when I got out of the hotel, it was raining, so I went back and put on running pants. Then I went back out and the rain had stopped. I had on 3 shirts and took one off after about a mile. The roads were dark and the shoulders were narrow. Glad I have my headlamp.

| | Goshen, IN 6:15 am Pace: 820 Rain is gone, but it's back to being cold. I took a loop around Goshen hitting a greenbelt and a rail trail. Pretty good run but I didn't really push myself. Now I get to go home for the weekend.

| | Boise, ID 10 am Pace: 7:48 Weather was warmer today, but rainy. The worst weather for knowing how to dress. I took off my jacket going down Maple Grove but then got cold when I got back up the bench.

| | Meridian, ID 7:15 am Pace: 8:12 Didn't run very fast. My first run in the dark in about a week. Just as the sun was coming up over the clouds at dawn the song "Here Comes The Sun" by George Harrison came on the iPod. Trying to appreciate the little things.
