We only went 5 miles this morning because Randy was still suffering from his Ultimate Frisbee injury.

I played touch football without any shoes on last night. My ankles were a little sore this morning, but they loosened up after a mile or two. I was going to pick up the pace and really push it for the last couple of miles, but I ran into a friend about 4 miles into it. He was just heading out, so I ran with him for a few miles and enjoyed chatting.

Two runs acctually. I went on the usual MWF route with Randy, then got in the car, drove it to the shop and ran home.

Not a bad morning. Steadily speeding up through the first run, then improved each mile on the second too.

4:30 pm

2.6 miles and $235 later, I have my car back. I took off at a pretty fast pace and then decided to push it. I ended up with a 7:07 pace which is a lot faster than I usually run.

It's getting cooler out there. I wore gloves, two shirts and shorts this morning. Kept it slow and comfortable for most of the run.

Didn't push too hard this morning. Didn't get the pace below 8mpm until the last mile. Enjoying the cooler weather. It's right on the borderline of being uncomfortably cold.

Went out a little earlier this morning whick kind of sucked because it was dark the whole way. Had a good run. It takes a few miles to get up to a good pace when I just roll out of bed and start running, but I finished strong. Went down to Executive/Emerald, up Maple Grove and back on Ustick.

Really good, hard run this morning. Eight miles with a 7:32 avg. pace. Weather was overcast and 50 degrees. Can't ask for much better weather than that.

Cut it a little short this morning. Randy wasn't feeling well. But, I pushed him kind of hard keeping up negative spits. Then I ran around the block a couple of times to get my avg. pace down below 8.

Went up around downtown, across the river and then around the common. Kept a good hard pace up and finished with a 7:43 avg. Weather was good, in the low 50s. My wife said it was 37 at home. Sometimes things work out.

A perfect morning for a run along the Charles River. Weather was crisp, about 45 degrees with no wind. The water was glassy with a few rowers out there.

Legs felt good, not perfect, but good enough. Pushed the pace and ended up at 7:43 mpm. Now I don't want to go to work.

Weather was still nice this morning. The storm is supposed to roll in tonight, so we'll see how the run goes tomorrow morning.

I didn't sleep well last night, but was able to put in a decent run anyway. 7:49 was my average pace.

Well, the great weather ended last night, but the rain stopped by the time I went out running this morning. I've been feeling more and more tired as the week has worn on, so I slept in and didn't push myself too hard on the run. The wind was kind of bad too, but I went through Cambridge and back along the river. Average pace: 7:58.

I was going to run 12 miles this morning, just to get my weekly mileage up to 50. But I got up too late to do that and the other things I wanted to do today. And I reminded myself that I'm the only one who would care or know and on Monday I'll be back at zero either way.

I ran down Boylston St. and saw the finish line of the Boston Marathon. That was cool. I'd been down that street before, but only at night. Then I found myself in the middle of a campaign rally for Gov. Deval Patrick. I went down the riverway, or watever they call in and then over to Fenway Park. I looped around the stadium and back up Commonwealth Ave. Mall.

After the run I cleaned up and went over to the Harvard - Lehigh game and sat in the cold wind watching Harvard blow a lead. Then I went to work.

Cold this morning. The thermometer read 40 when I left. Summer was nice, but I guess it's over now.

Not working today, so I slept in a bit and then did a ten-miler. Chilly this morning, but I dressed better for it than I did yesterday. I went up to Chinden and Maple Grove and back along McMillian. Kept a good pace. All miles were below 8 and my last mile was the fastest.

Ran up Cloverdale to Overland. That overpass is kind of scary in the dark. Met up with Neil and ran a few miles with him and then back home. Just running and chatting. Didn't push the pace at all.

Had a hard time getting motivated this moring. Once I was out there I was ok, but didn't really want to.

Strange thing. I've apparently been running with a penny in my shoe for two days. I saw it on Tuesday and thought, hmm I should take that out. Then on my last mile this morning I felt it rattling around in there. How I ran 15 miles or so over two days without noticing it is beyond me.

I planned on going slower today. I put on a podcast instead of music and took off. But I ended increasing the pace anyway a couple of miles into it. The weather was a few degrees warmer this morning, so I wore shorts. I had on two shirts, but was still a bit chilly up top.

I'd been running in the cold and dark of the mornings this week, so I was looking forward to going out a little later to enjoy the warmth of the sun. Just my luck it was cloudy and cold this morning. I even got rained on for a while.

I went down Edna to Maple Grove and down to Chinden. Up the hill to McMillian and back. I didn't run on the trails at Maple Grove because of the rain. Kept up a decent pace the whole way. Felt pretty good afterward.

Randy was back from hunting, so we went to the regular MWF route. It was chilly this morning, but at least the rain had stopped. Felt pretty good after taking Sunday off.

Went and ran with Neil again this morning. One of these days that Cloverdale overpass is going to kill me. I'm just not sure if I'll die from the car hitting me on top, falling off the side, or a truck running me over once I hit the freeway. Rest assured, when it happens, I'll be sure and write about it in the blog.

My weight was down about 3 pounds this morning. I was 151 before the run and 148.5 when I got back. Holy crap! I haven't looked down at the scales and seen anything less than 150 in more than 20 years. The bad news is that I think it was mostly due to the fact that I didn't eat enough last night, so I was kind of dragging as I ran the last couple of miles home.

A decent run, but I didn't really push it until the last mile. I'm getting kind of tired of finishing my runs in the dark. Hopefully the time change next week will help.

So I'm running down the street in the dark toward Randy's house and I see someone on the other side of the street pushing a jogging stroller, so I keep going. Then the person yells my name and I realize that it's Randy. Apparently the kid was sick and his wife was up all night, so it was his turn.

Needless to say, we didn't run as fast as we usually would. Ran shorter too, but when we finished I went for another mile and a half at a faster pace. I'm going to try to run faster tomorrow.

I got up and made the kids breakfast before going out and running this morning. So I ate two waffles and then knocked off 7 miles under 7:30 per mile. It's waffle power, I tell you.

A nice morning, a little chilly but comfortable. This puts me at 200 miles for the month.
